BVI House Asia presented in Shenzhen Smart City Forum 2019

BVI House Asia joined several other International Friendship Cities at the 2019 Shenzhen Smart City Forum, 14-15 May, 2019. The high-level event was hosted by Shenzhen Municipal People’s Government and its Foreign Affairs Office; and showcased strategies for reforming Shenzhen into an economically viable and technology advanced “Smart City”.  At the Mayor’s Roundtable, Sherri Ortiz-Fahie, Director of BVI House Asia, spoke about technological applications being introduced by the Government of the British Virgin Islands to improve the delivery of public services and further enhance the economic well-being of the Territory and its citizens.

During the forum, BVI House Asia also met with Mr. Richard Zhong, Deputy Director General of Shenzhen Foreign Affairs Office to discuss the opportunities of collaboration in tourism, financial services and BVI’s future city planning projects. In culmination, BVI House Asia joined several International Friendship Cities in a signed MOU with the Shenzhen Government to support the implementation of smart cities towards a sustainable “Smart Global Village”.

The forum ended with a visit to Hua Wei campus where the delegation witnessed advanced ICT infrastructures for security, traffic monitoring, Banking network, and Cloud internet capability.  Hua Wei promotes technology as the enabler for a better future and the key to building smarter and safer cities.
