Elise Donovan, Director of BVI House Asia, Introduces “Pivoting to Asia” Panel at BVI Business Outlook Conference 2015

The 5^th annual BVI Business Outlook Conference, organized by Business BVI, gathered executives from around the world on January 14, 2015 at the BVI’s Scrub Island Resort to discuss the outlook of business in the BVI in the context of an evolving global economy. Based on the theme, “Moving Beyond Your Bubble”, discussions revolved around ways to keep the BVI competitive in the primary sectors of the economy, including financial services and tourism. BVI House Asia Director Elise Donovan opened one of the conference’s key panels, “Pivoting to Asia – Why all the fuss and focus?”

Welcoming panel speakers Jeffrey Kirk, Managing Partner and Group Head BVI of Corporate & Commercial at Appleby BVI, and Simon Filmer, Managing Director, Ex-Asia of OIL, Elise Donovan introduced the huge market potential in Asia, given the explosion of Asia’s middle class and increase in exponential growth of wealth in the region. Panelists Jeffrey Kirk and Simon Filmer discussed the strengths and weaknesses of the Asian economy, the global regulatory environment, and opportunities for the BVI in Asia.
