BVI House Asia Attends Liaisons Conference for International Departments of Friendship Cities in Shenzhen

Hong Kong, May 17, 2017 – BVI House Asia COO, Ms. Heather Tang, attended the Liaisons Conference for the International Department of Friendship Cities on May 12 in Shenzhen, at the invitation of the Foreign Affairs Office of the Shenzhen Municipal People’s Government.

The British Virgin Islands (BVI) signed the Memorandum of Understanding with the Shenzhen Government in January 2014 to promote the exchange of information and cooperation with the Shenzhen government in a number of sectors including financial services, tourism, the economy and culture.

In addition to Ms. Tang of BVI House Asia, 32 delegates from 16 of Shenzhen’s friendship cities attended this year’s Liaisons Conference for International Departments of Friendship Cities.

Ms. Tang Lixia, Director General of Foreign Affairs of the Shenzhen Municipal People’s Government, said the event marked the first time representatives from 16 of Shenzhen’s friendship cities had gathered together to learn about the rapid development of modern Shenzhen. Ms. Tang also mentioned that Shenzhen will put more efforts into the organization of Hi-Tech and Cultural Fair as well as implementation of the “The Belt and Road”, “Go Global” and “Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Bay Zone” strategy to enhance the valuable trade relationship with the BVI and other sister/friendship cities.

In her remarks to the conference, Ms. Tang of BVI House Asia said that the BVI looks forward to continued strong friendship between the BVI and the other Friendship Cities partnering with Shenzhen, as well as continued growth and prosperity for all.
